Whatever you want to
experience, first discipline
yourself to practice and
visualize it.
Practice and
preparation produce
better performance.
Over 20 years ago I started my speaking career by practicing in the mirror, on the tape recorder and with small audiences. Consistent practice does pay off.
A friend of the aviation legend Charles Lindbergh told an interesting story about self-determination. He and Charles Lindbergh used to fly together in the 1920's delivering mail. Samuels stated they would sometimes stay overnight in a small hotel. Samuels noticed one night that Lindbergh was sitting by the window looking at the stars. Samuels asked him after midnight, "Why are you sitting there at this hour?" Lindbergh answered, "Just practicing." Samuels replied, "Practicing WHAT?" Lindbergh replied, "Staying awake all night." That kind of discipline, preparation and passion made Lindbergh an aviation legend. Why? Because Lindbergh knew he had to prepare and discipline his mind and body to make history. His demanding solo flight of 33 hours alone required Lindbergh to be alert and awake to achieve his goal and return home safely. Are you disciplined enough to practice so you can perform at your best and achieve your goal? ~ Jewel Diamond Taylor
