Feeling sad and depressed? Depression can happen when you feel a tremendous sense of failure or loss and become haunted and obsessed with gloomy thoughts. Self-pity, sadness and gloom can develop into a chronic debilitating illness that requires professional or medical help. Depression can be short or long, mild or strong. You could be experiencing a dark season of depression that allows you to function at work and/or at home, but you just don’t have the joy and energy you had before. You walk around as if you’re on automatic pilot. You find yourself in so much mental pain that you want it all to end. Depression is like a temporary death of the soul. Bathing in this melancholy mood poisons your relationships. When you are depressed, you feel so much shame because you don’t want others to know that your life is out of control. The shame makes you want to hide and isolate yourself while you focus only on yourself and your pain. It can become a very selfish indulgence. Pray for understanding and a peace-filled mind. Learn the Serenity Prayer, “Lord, give me courage to change the things I can, patience for the things I cannot change, and wisdom to know the difference.” On this web site I offer an e-book "Let the Light Back In" and my book "You Are Too Blessed to Be Stressed". Both of these offer tips, scriptures and inspiration to help you cope with depression.
