You may be
a one-woman show wearing many hats in your
business or you may have a staff and team.
You can become ineffective and burned out,
in either case, if you never learn to
delegate. Author John Maxwell observed
that, “Most people fall into one of two
categories when it comes to delegation;
they’re either clingers or dumpers.
Clingers refuse to let go of anything they
think is important --- whether they are the
best person to do it or not. Their goal is
perfection. Dumpers are quick to get rid of
tasks, yet give little thought to how
successful their delegation efforts will
be. Their goal is to get things off their
desk.”
People who
reach the highest level in their profession,
focus on their priorities and they know how
to empower the people around them to create
a productive atmosphere.
Prioritize
– know what is important
Organize –
decide how it will be done
Plan –
decide when you will do it
Communicate – share your priorities with
your team
Execute –
follow through on your plan
Evaluate –
examine yourself and your results in order
to improve
Balance –
health is your first wealth --- remember to
nurture your health, family, peace of mind,
spiritual and social life
When you
sleep at night, make sure your body and YOUR
MIND get some rest.

Networking is about meeting people, and
for me, it was about overcoming shyness. I
had to learn how to overcome being
introverted and become more extroverted. I
have to tell you, in the beginning, it
wasn’t easy for me to get out of the house
or stop work to get out and promote myself.
Self-promotion seemed to be in direct
conflict with my upbringing as a female. I
mistakenly thought promoting myself was too
aggressive and prideful. I began to gain the
advantage edge the more I learned to be
visible, network, offer my business cards,
remember names, serve others in my
networking circle, attend social/business
gatherings and stand before a group to
promote my services, projects and business
and watched my business opportunities
increase.
People like to do business with people
they know. Networking gives you the chance
to meet new people, make new contacts,
exchange ideas and interact with others.
This can be really challenging for small
business owners who run their businesses
from home. It can also seem challenging for
those who don't live in larger cities, but
rather in smaller towns.
Networking doesn’t work unless you WORK
it. (read more in the book Success Gems by
Jewel Diamond Taylor, page 59).
I like what graphic artist Jeanna Pool
states, “Networking is not net-sit,
net- eat, net-drink or net-hide-in-
the-corner-and-don't-talk-to-anyone. It
is netWORK.
